This Version Of Os X 10.11 Cannot Be Installed
I need to upgrade to El Capitan 10.11 from 10.9.5 Mavericks.
I too, am wondering about this as my mid-2009 MacBook Pro is capped at os 10.11.6 and cannot download the current version of remote desktop. I need to be able to connect to my work computer from home during this time. I have exactly the same problem. I have an older macbook (pre 2009 i think), El Capitan v10.11.6. Os X 10 11 free download - Apple Mac OS X Mavericks, Apple Mac OS X Snow Leopard, R for Mac OS X, and many more programs.
Sierra is no use to me as some critical software I use is incompatible with it.
Os X Yosemite Download
El Capitan is no longer available on the Mac App Store so I have been given a link to the download by an Apple Support agent.
When I try to download the El Capitan installer I get the error message 'This version of os x 10.11 cannot be installed on this computer'.
I have an Early 2009 Mac Pro tower running 10.9.5 which should run El Capitan; indeed Sierra is available to me via Mac App Store. I have plenty of RAM and spare capacity on my boot drive.
I have tried creating a new admin account and installing from there - no luck
I have tried safe mode - no luck
I have tried reinstalling Mavericks in case the Mac App Store was corruput - no luck
I have an SSD in the optical bay for boot up and four spinning hard drives in a software RAID.
I have the following PCIe cards
NVIDIA Geoforce GTX570
Os X El Capitan
Apogee Symphony 64 (audio interface)
Universal Audio UAD-2 Quad (audio processing DSP)
Blackmagic Decklink HD Extreme 3
Any idea what is going on and why I can't download the El Capitan installer?
Many thanks in advance!
Mac Pro, OS X Mavericks (10.9.5)
